Glencoe Lochan - Day 1 - Invercoe

On our second week in Scotland we had booked a cottage in Invercoe, it was such good value I was worried it wouldn't be very good, but I was very wrong. The cottage was lovely, and just over the road was Loch Leven which has a small stony beach. The cottage also backs onto woodland so attracts a good variety of bird esp if you put food out for them - we had good fun watching them each morning. There's also a pine marten which we were lucky enough to see twice.

On our first evening we had quick wander along the shore of Loch Leven then headed out to have a look at the Lochan which sits high in the woods above the cottage. There's a route on Walk Highlands which we deviated from slightly to walk it from the cottage. We returned back to the cottage door pretty much following the woodland downwards. It was a lovely peaceful spot for an evening stroll which I'm sure get's a lot busier during the daytime as it's an easy walk from the campsite nr to the cottage.

  1. Great set of photos of a smashing area. That's one more pine marten spot than me then. 40 years walking the Scottish Hills and glens and only seen one and 0 Wildcats.
